"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"  (Happy Tax Day)

1 Samuel 17 ; Psalm 9

Scripture - I'll write the book on Hallelujahs;
      on the corner of Main and First
      I'll hold a street meeting;
   I'll be the song leader; we'll fill the air
      with salvation songs.      Psalm 9:14

Observation - Here the Psalmist is promising to "tell the story" of God's acts of salvation.  Of freeing the oppressed and bringing the oppressor to justice.  When there is good news to share, how can we not share it.

Application - We have "good news" to share.  The word "gospel" literally means "good news."  The reality is that we often expect people to find it on their own, to stumble upon it if you will.  We don't want to be presumptuous or pushy.  But if we knew of a place that was handing out $1,000 (a one-time offer) wouldn't we tell everyone we knew of that good news?  We have good news, but are not comfortable sharing it for a variety of reasons.  We need to see that this good news is not just for us, but for everyone.  It is God's gift to all and God would love our help in "passing it on."

Prayer - Dear God, thank you for the good news that you love us all so much that you gave your Son that whoever believes in him would not perish, but have eternal life.  Help me to take every opportunity to share this good news in a way that is life-giving to those you bring into my sphere of influence.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
